It was till Saturday (26th) I was very excited. I was planning to make a short trip to San Francisco on 1st Dec for the reunion of our university friends. However, it was very different when I woke up on the 27th Sunday. I was down with what I initially thought was viral fever which later turned out to be Covid. I had to cancel my trip and the last week appeared disheartening.

Looking at the brighter side, whatever time I could manage, I read the book Greenlight by Matthew McConaughey. Matthew McConaughey is an American actor and producer who won an Oscar in 2013. In this autobiography, he narrates his exciting journey from a humble background to a celebrity. The writing style is straightforward and unconventional, and he gives many interesting pearls of wisdom.

Reading the book made me feel much better, and I leave you a few quotes from the book.

“We all step in shit from time to time. We hit roadblocks, we get sick, we don’t get what we want, we cross thousands of “wish that wouldn’t have happened”…. Stepping in shit is inevitable, so let’s either see it as good luck or figure out how to do it less often.”

“The problems we face today eventually turn into blessings in the rearview mirror of life.”

“It’s a matter of how we see the challenge in front of us and how we engage with it. Persist, pivot, or concede. It’s up to us, our choice every time.”
